Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) crowned Alma Cocina the winner of its second annual cocktail contest, Battle of the Bottles. This year's theme, "What Would Rhett Drink Today?," celebrated the 75th anniversary of the film premiere of Gone With the Wind. Alma's winning cocktail, Fuego Sur, featured mango- and habanero-infused Herradura Reposado, Woodford Reserve Bourbon, Jus D' Manguier Liqueur, lemon juice, pecan simple syrup and black tea.

The winner was announced at ACVB's Connect event at Opera Nightclub on Wednesday, June 18. Alma's grand prize includes $2,014, a free ACVB membership for one year, a feature in Atlanta Now and recognition at the Atlanta Hospitality Hall of Fame event in November.

Mara Davis Mara Davis
Mara Davis had been a staple of Atlanta radio for almost two decades. She was named the "Best Radio DJ" in 2000, 2001, 2007, 2008, and 2009 by the readers of Creative Loafing and was honored as "Woman of the Month" by Atlanta Woman magazine in 2004. She spent the last 18 years helming shows on 92.9FM (both as Z93 and DaveFM), before the station switched formats. Mara joined the Atlanta Eats team in 2013, and is a weekly contributor on WABE (Atlanta's NPR). She also contributes video blogs and content featuring local food purveyors and farmers to AtlantaEats.com.
   
James Martin James Martin
James Martin recently launched a blog called "The Sipologist." This project is a tasty journey to learn and discover more about cocktails and their components. Martin delves into home experiments, field trips and case studies, as well as attempts to learn from the experts through interviews, classes, research and shadowing. He is also a graphic designer and illustrator and the co-founder of the Burger Coalition - a club that engages diners in an inclusive experience of international community building by gathering together to enjoy the iconic American hamburger at different restaurants throughout the city.
